Year in and year out, Allen High School dominates Texas’ District 6-6A. After Friday’s emphatic 58-23 victory over Plano East, Allen advances to 10-0, recording its third straight undefeated regular season and 53rd consecutive win.
Allen wasted no time getting things started. Junior quarterback Mitchell Jonke led the Eagles 60 yards in just five plays. Jonke capped off the drive, punching into the endzone from 1-yard to get Allen on the scoreboard. Powered by two rushing touchdowns from Kirby Bennett, the Eagles kept the momentum going with their relentless offense, taking a 24-9 lead into the halftime break.
To start off the second half, Jonke hooked up with senior Lionell McConnell for a 78-yard touchdown. McConnell finished with five receptions for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
Seth Green, the other side of Allen’s dual quarterback strategy, finished with 64 rushing yards and 2 rushing scores.
The 35-point victory marks Allen’s third consecutive sweep of the three Plano teams. Allen currently sits in 4th in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings and 1st in Texas.
The Eagles kick off the playoffs at home against Byron Nelson High School. The two teams square off on November 13 at 7:30pm.
