Allen High School shutdown The Woodlands, advancing to the Texas Class 5A D1 quarterfinals in a 56-21 victory.  Ranking 2nd in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings and 1st in the state, the Eagles jumped out to an early lead while keeping the Highlanders off the scoreboard for the first half of the game.

Junior Kyler Murray had one of his best performances of his already incredible year.  The quarterback completed 16 of 21 passes for 335 yards and five touchdowns in the game and a 49-yard rushing score.

Both Jalen Guyton and Cole Carter caught two of Murray’s touchdowns.  Guyton’s first score came in the second quarter from 71 yards out, followed by a 38-yard score in the third.  Carter’s strikes came in the final two minutes of the first and second quarter with both of his scores coming from 7 yards out.

Allen’s flawless offense led them to a 42-0 lead by the half.  Striking twice more in second half, Murray and company finished with a combined eight touchdowns.

While Allen’s offense marked score after score, the Eagles’ defense prohibited The Woodlands from getting any sort of momentum going.  After two Highlander touchdowns in the third, Allen was quick to shut The Woodlands down, only allowing one more score in the game.

Preparing for their quarterfinal match against Westfield on December 7, Allen looks to continue their 13-game undefeated season.

Key Players:

Kyler Murray- 16-21 for 335 yards, 5 TD, 1 49-yard rushing TD
